Abstract

The objective of this paper is to present the perception of health professionals working withpatients affected by leprosy on the performance of occupational therapists within the careteam to that patient. This is a qualitative study carried out in 2012. For this purpose anethnographic nature observation was performed at the Instituto Estadual de DermatologiaSanitária (State Institute of Sanitary Dermatology – IEDS in Portuguese) , in the city of Rio deJaneiro, RJ-Brazil, which allowed monitoring activities conducted in the service and seveninterviews with professionals working in the area were carried out. It was found a difficulty,both for users, as other professionals, to understand the contribution of occupationaltherapists in comprehensive care to Hansen’s disease.
