SEXUALITY AND AGING: PERCEPTIONS ABOUT ABILITIES AND POSSIBILITIES

Aging and physiological changes in the body can produce direct and indirect effects on sexual desireand performance of the elderly. The present study aimed to analyze the perceptions of sexuality inaging and identify factors that influence the scope of performance skills. These are a qualitative andexploratory study, with focus group for data collection. The study was conducted in a ResidentsAssociation. Raised in the group discussions were recorded in digital, transcribed and evaluatedthrough analysis of thematic content. The study results show that performance skills are related tosexuality during aging. From this study, it can be inferred that older people understand and livediscussions about sexuality in aging in different ways and often this issue is not addressed naturally.
