The morphology and life habits of benthic fish is a consequence of their
relationship with environment in which it is inserted. In this context, the study of this interaction is called Ecomorphology, which aims to identify the pressure that the environment exerts on the phenotypic characteristics of animals. Thus, the
hypothesized tested was that qualittive environmental characteristic influence in distinct forms the inter and intraspecific ecomorphological variations. For this, we
aimed to analyse ecomorphological variations among benthonic fish species from the three streams of different sub-basins in the Upper Paraná River region. We were
perfomed body linear measurements, and were calculated eye and fins areas. The indexes were calculated based in measurements and body areas, and after a Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was performed. Based in results, the hypothesis was partially corroborated, because the benthic fish populations showed
variations only in each stream interspecific relationship, followed the trend of habitat characteristics and use.
