Abstract

The aim of this study is to characterize the management of sports and leisure in municipalities in the Territory of Identity Litoral Sul - BA. To this end, a research was carried out with a qualitative and quantitative methodological approach, through an exploratory and descriptive study in 15 municipalities in the said Territory, located in the south of Bahia. To obtain the data, a questionnaire containing 65 questions divided into two parts was used, which was answered by the municipal manager responsible for the sport and leisure sector in the municipalities or by an official indicated by him. In general, the results show that the practices adopted are far from excellence in public management. It was possible to observe that there is no standard in the nomenclature of portfolios dealing with sports and leisure, that in 2 municipalities there is a Municipal Sports Council and only one of the municipalities indicated that there is a swimming pool under the responsibility of the municipality.
