Comportamento sedentário e sono associados com o excesso de peso em pessoas idosas

Devido as mudanças no estilo de vida, muito tem se discutido sobre associações do comportamento sedentário com o tempo gasto no sono, sem levar em conta que o tempo é finito durante o dia, por isso o tempo gasto em cada um desses comportamentos é independente. Portanto, pouco é conhecido dos mecanismos de inter-relação do tempo exposto ao comportamento sedentário, sono e excesso de peso. O presente estudo teve como objetivo elaborar um modelo teórico para estabelecer a relação entre comportamento sedentário, qualidade do sono e excesso de peso corporal em idosos. Foram analisados estudos observacionais sobre comportamento sedentário, qualidade do sono e excesso de peso em pessoas com idade >60 anos. As bases de dados utilizadas para busca de estudos foram a PubMed, BVS e Scielo. A busca e leitura de títulos e resumos foi feita por dois autores, de forma independente. Foram incluídos 27 artigos nesta revisão. Concluiu-se que a alta exposição ao comportamento sedentário e a qualidade do sono prejudicada (excesso ou privação) acarretam diversos malefícios para a saúde, incluindo o excesso de peso corporal em idosos.Citas
