Abstract

The goal of this study was to identify and analyze Brazilian scientific productions about leprosy in under 15-year-old children between 2004 and 2014. Publications were identified through a search of the Virtual Health Library and LILACS, SciELO, PubMed electronic databases, using the descriptors: leprosy, child and teenager. Seventeen studies were found with eleven of them used a quantitative approach. The most developed research on the topic was by physicians and in the southeastern region. The average publication 2004 to 2014 for one to two articles per year. Although the study objectives were clearly presented in 16 articles, information was missing in ten abstracts. There are very few Brazilian publications on leprosy in under 15-year-old children, and so we conclude that there is a need to expand research in Brazil on this theme.

Descriptors: Leprosy; Child; Adolescent.
