Nursing diagnosis impaired verbal communication in clinical practice: an integrative review

Abstract

This is a study has as aim to identify in the literature the use in clinical practice of nursing diagnosis ImpairedVerbal Communication in adults. It is an integrative literature review in the databases LILACS, BDENF,Coleciona SUS, CINAHL, EMBASE e MEDLINE, in 2015. 20 studies were analyzed, of which 12 (60%) reportedhigh prevalence (75-100%) diagnosis in different clinical contexts, usually associated with the verbalimpediment by physical barriers such as intubation/tracheostomy and neurological disorders. DiagnosisImpaired Verbal Communication has been used in clinical practice superficially, considering mainly physicalaspects, easy identification without a more precise and detailed evaluation of damage in the communication.Emotional and social aspects were not considered in most studies.
