Abstract

This article discusses the different concepts related to health promotion. It's a reading, throughout history, of works that stem from the earliest times up to contemporaneity. It discusses the importance of biomedical disruption in health care, and values interdisciplinarity as a key issue in this context. It is noteworthy that despite the many articles and important reflections, there is not a definite agreement regarding the nature of Health Promotion. At the same time, ideas relating to the theme reinforce health as a condition — a result from a process — and not a state. It's an interesting issue, with several challenges to be overcome.
