Estados emocionais em ambiente competitivo: estudo de caso do tiro com arco
Abstract
Objective – The aim of the present study was to investigate markers of the emotional state in a veteran athlete from Brazilian Archery National Team during an official contest. Methods – The experiment procedures were conduct for 5 days (Pre-C – pre-competition, day of free practice (TL) that anteceded the competition; competition days (1C and 2C) and competition day Post-C – post-competition). The humor profile was determined using the Profile of Mood States (POMS) Inventory during the Pre-C and Post-C. Anxiety was measured by Competitive State Anxiety Inventory-2 (CSAI-2) during 1C and 2C days. Salivary cortisol was measured before Pre-C; TL; 1C; 2C and Post-C. Heart rate was measured during 1C and 2C days. Results – It was observed higher cognitive anxiety in the 1C day in comparison to 2C day. According, salivary cortisol was higher during 1C and 2C days, but mainly in 1C day, in comparison to Pre-C and TL. The heart rate (HR) was higher during 1C and 2C days (HR peak: 1C = 154 bpm and 2C = 149 bpm) in comparison to TL (115 bpm). Also, it was observed the disarray of “iceberg profile” (POMS) in the Post-C in comparison to Pre-C. Conclusion – the results of the present study reinforce the hypothesis that the competition is a potent modulator of emotional states in comparison to the training session.
