Authors

Abstract

Objective: To determine the prevalence of dyslipidemia and its associated factors. Methods: It is characterized as a cross-sectional study, with a sample of 157 elderly people aged ?60 years. Health, behavioral and sociodemographic information were collected through interviews, subsequently anthropometric assessments, physical performance tests and dyslipidemia were assessed through blood collection. Results: The prevalence of dyslipidemia was 77.1%, of which the highest occurrence was low HDL-c with 35.7%, followed by 26.1% with isolated hypertriglyceridemia. Factors associated with dyslipidemia are occupation PR = 0.69 [0.51-0.94], stroke PR =1.47 [1.01-2.12], waist circumference PR = 1.01 [1 .01-1.03] and the walking test speed 2.44m RP = 0.78 [0.64-0.97]. Conclusion: There was a high prevalence of dyslipidemia in the elderly. The monitoring of laboratory parameters in lipidograms and the monitoring of associated factors can contribute to the promotion of health programs for the elderly.
