Abstract

Small farms play a crucial role in providing food and livelihoods in many countries, mainly because they are areas dedicated to polyculture, vegetable cultivation, milk and meat production, among others. However, little attention has been given to the physical quality of the soil in these properties. The land use in these probities is exploited to the maximum so that it becomes profitable. In this context, the physical quality of the soil was investigated in a small property in the Southeast Region of the state of Paraná, which has a significant diversity of land use. The objective of this research was to evaluate the physical quality of the soil in different types of land use to identify how this use infers in the physical conditions of the soil. The uses used in this research were: forest, pasture, yerba mate cultivation, eucalyptus reforestation, agriculture with different management methods. The analyzed variables were density, strength, porosity and soil moisture. At the end of the research, it is concluded that the pressure on the different uses of the land potentiated the poor physical quality of the soil, when comparing the data with the literature.
