Abstract

This study was carried out at Parque Engenheiro Felisberto Neves in the city of Betim, MG. The objective was to analyze the quali-quantitative composition of the zooplankton community of water bodies of two micro-drains that make up the Park's water complex, relating to some abiotic variables of that environment. Monthly samplings were carried out between March 2002 and February 2003, at three points in a lotic environment and one point in a lentic environment. 100 liters of water were filtered with a 35 mm cylinder-conical mesh opening of 10 liter bucket. The structure of the zooplankton community was evaluated through the frequency of occurrence of the taxa, diversity index and equitability. The community was represented by 58 taxa (31 Rotifera, 5 Copepoda, 1 Cladocera and 21 Protozoa). Among the most frequent taxa are: Bdelloida, Lecane lunaris, nauplios of Cyclopoida and Arcella vulgaris. The mean diversity was 2.65 Bits.ind-1 and the equitability was 0.69, which characterizes, together with the physical and chemical parameters analyzed, good quality water, mainly for the protection of aquatic communities.
