Abstract

The objective of the study was to monitor the internal training load (ITL) of young female athletes of handball through the session Rating of Perceived Exertion (session RPE), characterizing the ITL of the modality. This monitoring took place with 10 athletes from a team affiliated to the Minas Gerais handball federation, during eleven weeks of training, involving eight weeks of preparation and three weeks of competition. All training sessions and games were monitored through the session RPE. The results showed an oscillatory characteristic of the loads and the highest loads were found in the preparatory period (451 AU) compared to the competitive period (291 AU), with statistically significant differences (p<0.001) and high effect size (d = 0.86). It is concluded that the ITL showed an oscillatory characteristic during the evaluated period, with higher values ??in the weeks without games compared to the weeks with games
