Physical Education in Pedagogy Training

Abstract

This research sought to verify if and how the curricular component Physical Education is present in the academic formation courses in Pedagogy. For this purpose, the PPCs of 41 Federal Universities were analyzed. The choice fell on the Pedagogical Projects of the Pedagogical Courses of the Federal Public Universities that offer the course in its presential modality. The IES that are not organized as universities, that is to say, colleges, institutes, among others, as well as the Federal Public Universities that do not offer the pedagogy course were disregarded. Universities that do not offer the course in person, although they do offer it on their official websites, were also excluded. Data collection took place between September 2019 and February 2020, through the National Register of Courses and Institutions of Higher Education at the e-MEC platform of the Brazilian Ministry of Education. The analysis provided the understanding that there is a polysemy discursive in relation to the component in the verified courses. The issues raised in this work highlight the problem of the division of Physical Education and its reflection in the pedagogical courses of the Federal Universities of Brazil.
