Abstract

Human infertility is the inability to generate a pregnancy by natural methods within 12 months of attempts without the use of contraceptive methods. Assisted human reproduction can be described as a set of techniques and procedures used in the treatment of infertility. This work presents data on methodological advances in IVF (in vitro fertilization) and ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection) cycles and the frequency of use of techniques over the years. Methodology: This is a systematic review of scientific articles from two databases (PubMed and BVS) from the period 2011 to 2021. 29 articles were included, most of which were found in the period 2011 and 2012. patients included in the studies were of advanced age. The studies reported the use of six types of oocyte stimulation inducers, with recombinant gonadotropins being the most used. On the other hand, five types of maturation inducers were listed, but the use of hCG was predominant. Our findings showed that there was a clear increase in the number of IVF and ICSI cycles between 2011 and 2014, as well as an increase in the number of IVF/ICSI cycles in the period from 2015 to 2019. experience of professionals, age of patients, were factors addressed in the articles. It is essential to continue studies on assisted human reproduction cycles, as it is through advances and improved results that a greater number of people are served, consequently increasing the demand for techniques.
