MOTIVATION OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS TO WORK AS VOLUNTEER TEACHERS IN A POPULAR COURSE

Abstract

The aim of this study was to understand the motivation of university students who volunteer at a popular course and to assess their self-perception of well-being.  This is a descriptive exploratory study of a qualitative nature, carried out using a content analysis of undergraduate students at a federal university through virtuais interviews. The results revealed three main categories of motivation: personal satisfaction, professional development and the desire to help others. Volunteers perceived the intersection between helping students and finding personal satisfaction, while also highlighting the positive impact on the teacher-student relationship. In conclusion, the motivation for volunteering is multifaceted, including the gratification of helping and developing skills, but facing contextual obstacles impacting personal well-being and the teacher-student relationship.
