Abstract

This text focuses on Education for Ethnic-Racial Relations (EERR) in the context of Science and Biology teaching, specifically addressing the debate on the topic in the (initial and continuing) training of Science teachers and the development of pedagogical practices in Basic Education. In three sections, we reflect on the following points: the inclusion of EERR in undergraduate courses in Biological Sciences; the motivations of teachers for seeking continuing education in EERR, according to participants in an extension course; and the development of EERR proposals that have been carried out in conjunction with the extension projects “School Garden” and “Black Women Doing Science” in a federal technical school. We reflect on the importance of including ERER in initial training courses and in extension activities that aim to contribute to the continuing education of teachers in practice, as well as in the development and implementation of activities that promote racial literacy for basic education students.
