Abstract

In this work aims to verify the treatment given to linguistic variation in a collection of Portuguese textbooks, considering what the Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais (PCN) recommend and the assumptions of Sociolinguistics. Specifically, we sought to verify whether linguistic variation was a constant or appears occasionally in the collection of Portuguese textbooks. For this, in order to give greater solidity and consistency to the research, we rely on authors such as Alkimim (2012), Bagno (2007; 2015), Beline (2015), Calvet (2002), Camacho (2012), Faraco (2008; 2016), França, Ferrari and Maia (2016), Cezario and Votre (2015), Ilari and Basso (2014), Lucchesi and Lobo (1988) and Tarallo (1994). To verify the treatment given to linguistic variation, we selected the collection Jornadas.port – Língua Portuguesa, by Dileta Antonieta Delmanto and Laíz Barbosa de Carvalho. The study carried out here was promising as we can know the reality that is found in one of the collections of Portuguese textbooks made available by the National Didactic Book Plan, in schools of the municipal public network of Basic Education in Teresina.
