POLICE INQUIRY TRYING TO CRIMINALIZE PIXAÇÕES ON THE “GOD IS MOTHER” WALL IN THE CENTER OF BELO HORIZONTE. WHAT DOES NEGRODRAMAPOESIA SAY?

Abstract

The text presents the conflict involving the canvas “Deus é Mãe”, by the artist Robinho Santana, made in the context of the public art festival CURA, in BH, in 2021, which was painted on a lateral building wall in the center of the city of Belo Horizonte and has graffiti in a kind of frame of a painting of a black woman with a child in her arms and another carried by her hand. Due to the presence of the pixo on the screen, a police investigation was opened in an attempt to criminalize the artist, the festival and the pixadores. To think about the institutional racism of this attempt at criminalization, we will go through the text by Neusa Santos Souza and Freud, when he talks about the malaise in culture.
