Objective: To identify the prevalence and factors associated with systemic arterial hypertension (SAH) among adults from Santa Laura Family Health Strategy (FHS) in Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, Brazil. Methods: A cross-sectional study using cluster sampling of the population covered by the FHS. Data were collected through interviews addressing risk factors for SAH. Blood pressure measured using a digital sphygmomanometer. Results: 147 individuals were evaluated, with an estimated prevalence (CI95%) of 61.9% (53.5%–69.8%). SAH was predominant among females, individuals aged 45–59 years, and those with overweight or obesity. In adjusted analyses, divorced/widowed marital status was the only factor independently associated with SAH. Alcohol consumption was marginally significant association with SAH. No significant associations were identified between other variables. Conclusion: The SAH prevalence was high in the studied population, highlighting the need for its screening and adequate management within the FHS context.
