Abstract

This study aims to verify the approach to textual genre adopted in the textbook “Tecendo Linguagens: língua portuguesa” by Oliveira and Araújo, 2018, in the 7th grade volume of Elementary School, and how this approach is present in Portuguese language teaching activities. To achieve this objective, we established as the focus of analysis chapter 3, “Trocando passes”, which is found in Unit 2, “Entretenimento é coisa sério”. The aforementioned collection was selected because it is the material used in the school where one of the authors of this study works, and chapter 3 was chosen because it focuses on transitivity, a linguistic category of interest to the researchers. This study is of an interpretative qualitative nature and bibliographical basis (GIL, 2008); its theoretical basis is Sociodiscursive Interactionism (SDI), specifically in the postulates of Bronckart (1999), Schneuwly and Dolz (2004). As a category of analysis, we considered the conceptions of text genre pointed out by authors representing the ISD, the conceptions of genre expressed in the National Curricular Parameters (PCNs, 1998), in the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC, 2017) and in the selected textbook (LD). The study showed that the approach to genre assumed in the LD is Sociodiscursive Interactionism and meets the precepts of official documents; however, in the activities proposed in the analyzed chapter, there are points of convergence and divergence between theory and practice.
