Abstract

The present article has as objective to answer the question: Why are the theatrical practices in Coroadinho scarce? And how can we contribute to change this scarcity? Therefore, it seeks to circumscribe the performance of the community theater-educator. To this end, the article is focused on the ARTEATRO Community Theater Group, which is developed in the community of Coroadinho in São Luís/MA, in which we have been active since 2019. The research refers to the actions that were proposed to the group, in the Community Council of Social Defense of the Coroadinho Pole. To this end the research is based on my experience and reflection as a community-educator-theater (whose conceptual approach was elaborated and defended in the body of the text), a reflection that thinks about the evolution of young people and adolescents, and notes that the theater fulfills a role of transformation of realities in the lives of participants, and as theoretical references, this article uses the knowledgeof Augusto Boal, Claudia Andrade, Domingo Adame and others. Furthermore, it is a qualitative research of a narrative reflective nature. With this article, it is concluded that the community-educator-theater is a mediator of the artistic and personal development of the members, and the theatrical art has a fundamental role in the social transformation of young people and adolescents.
