The SOCIAL PROFILE OF PEOPLE AFFECTED BY PARASITOSIS IN BRAZIL: AN INTEGRATIVE REVIEW

The prevalence of parasitic diseases in Brazil, according to a recent systematic review, is 46%. Clinical manifestations involve factors related to the environment, the parasite and the host. This study aims to analyze the social profile of people affected by parasitic diseases in Brazil between the years 2017 and 2022, through the analysis of the relationship between the incidence of these diseases and the determining socioeconomic factors. This is an integrative review in which a search was performed using MeSH search terms in the Lilacs, Medline and Pubmed databases, using the descriptors “parasitic diseases”, “socioeconomic conditions”, “Brazil”. Of the 173 studies found, 12 were selected to compose the study. The results included primarily children, garbage collectors, fishermen, caretakers, among others. There was a higher frequency of intestinal parasites in males, with lower income, low education and minors.
