Objective: To compare the diagnostic journey of women with cervical cancer who used the Unified Health System (SUS) and the Supplementary Health System (SSS). Method: Cross-sectional study carried out in two Brazilian oncology centers. 391 women with cervical cancer with up to 18 months of treatment were interviewed. Demographic, clinical and time (days) of the diagnostic process were collected. Result: Most SUS women had low education, squamous cell histology and advanced staging (p <0.05). Also, this group had a longer time of the total diagnostic journey (p <0.0001), between the first symptoms until the biopsy (p <0.0001) and between the biopsy and the first consultation with the specialist (p = 0.003). Conclusion: Women who used the SUS had a longer diagnostic journey to access treatment than those who used the SSS, in all its stages, converging in higher proportions of tumors with advanced stage.
