COMPARAÇÃO DE MÉTODOS DE OSTEOTÉCNICA: PROPOSIÇÃO DE PROTOCOLO DETALHADO PARA PRÁTICA LABORATORIAL APROPRIADA

There are several methods for preparing bones, but not all of them provide a good cost-benefit ratio or adequate detailing for correct execution. Thus, the objectives of this work were to test the efficiency of three osteotechnic methods and establish a simple and effective protocol. The methods chosen for testing differed in the existence of an initial neutralization step in NaClO; when using boiling with NaHCO3, immersion in NaOH or soap for the removal stage; and immersion in H2O2 at different concentrations in the maceration stageEach method was assessed based on its ease of execution, necessity for repetition, time requirements, and the quality of the resulting specimen. The procedures with the best results were used to formulate a detailed protocol, in which we adjusted the concentration of reagents and exposure time. Across the three methods, the different procedures tested varied in efficiency. Boiling in caustic soda was ineffective, requiring repetitions for minimally satisfactory results. Immersion in soap was the best procedure for deteriorating skin and muscles. Maceration in hydrogen peroxide at the concentrations and time suggested in the methods did not generate the expected cleaning and whitening. The protocol we propose, combining the most efficient procedures with the appropriate adjustment in the concentration of reagents and exposure time, was tested and presented excellent results, reducing costs and enabling more efficient laboratory practice.
