Abstract

Environmental Education, especially in higher education, is a topic that must be treated with particular importance. Brazil is a prominent country when it comes to the environment and environmental education, considering its proportion and the different roles it plays on the global stage. This study aims to provide a brief historical overview of the main events and regulations related to environmental education in undergraduate education and to analyze the pedagogical project of the Biological Sciences undergraduate program at the Federal University of Technology - Paraná. It was possible to verify whether the subject is included in the course and how it is taught, also in how many course units environmental education is covered, and whether there are other ways of learning. Additionally, issues such as interdisciplinarity, multidisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity were evaluated, seeking to incorporate complex thinking and the holistic vision inherent to Environmental Education in higher education courses.
