ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION IN A CONSERVATION UNIT

What do we perceive around us and how do we perceive it? What is beyond what we see? How to reveal other landscapes in the landscape? These questions motivated the creation of a workshop in the Environmental Education Program of the Parque Estadual da Serra do Tabuleiro. The workshop Landscapes, perceptions and compositions sought to show perceived, remembered and imagined landscapes, mixing memory and affectivity with the strength of plants and earth natural pigments. By trying to move away from an education given a priori, the intention was to produce a rupture, surpassing the institutionalized environmental education, seen as a guarantee of awareness for nature conservation, and then think on this education in other ways. In this workshop, we invested in experimenting with environmental education, causing it to be inventive. As inventive we consider an education that is involved with a poetics and a politics of subtleties so that we could imagine other natures, other landscapes, other forms of relationship, protection and, therefore, other forms of perception within a Conservation Unit.
